Farah Turkistani is a data scientist on the department’s research team who trained in UVA’s M.S. in Data Science program. Her work applies machine learning to global health: she co-authored a 2025 IEEE Systems and Information Engineering Design Symposium paper on predicting treatment outcomes in multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, and a 2026 multicenter study of vasopressor use among adults with sepsis in Uganda and Rwanda.
