Andrew E. Muck is Professor and Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the UVA School of Medicine and the Marcus L. Martin Distinguished Professor. Before joining UVA in 2023, he was a professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he served as interim chair, residency program director and vice chair of education. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he deployed in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. His research uses AI and machine learning to improve hospital throughput and shorten the time until patients see a physician.
