R. Andrew TaylorMD, MHS

R. Andrew Taylor is the Robert E. O’Connor Distinguished Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Virginia and the department’s Vice Chair of Research and Innovation, with a courtesy appointment as Professor of Data Science. He received his MD from Emory University School of Medicine and a Master of Health Science with an informatics focus from Yale University, where he was on the faculty before joining UVA. His research addresses AI-driven clinical decision support, machine learning in emergency care, and the ethical and implementation challenges of digital health. He was senior author of a 2025 JAMA Network Open study that developed an AI model to predict agitation events in the emergency department.
