Matthew J. Trowbridge is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Public Health Sciences at the UVA School of Medicine, where he directs the UVA Medical Design Program and student and resident research in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He earned his MD and an MPH in epidemiology from Emory University and completed an injury prevention and trauma research fellowship at the University of Michigan. His research examines how the built environment affects EMS system performance, injury outcomes and population health. He served as Chief Medical Officer of the International WELL Building Institute from 2021 to 2023.
