Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine
Moira E. Smith, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at UVA, where she is Medical Information Officer for Emergency Medicine and Director of Digital Clinical Workflows. She earned her MD and MPH at UVA and completed her emergency medicine residency and clinical informatics fellowship there. Her work focuses on clinical decision support, electronic health record usability and workflow, and bringing digital health and AI into emergency care. With a multidisciplinary UVA team she received a TYDE Grand Challenge seed grant for a digital tool connecting schools, emergency departments and families around youth mental health, and she chaired the SAEM Informatics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence Interest Group for 2025–2026.
