Rita FarahPhD, MPH, PharmD

Rita Farah is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Virginia and the department’s first non-physician faculty member. She is lead epidemiologist for the Division of Medical Toxicology and for UVA Student Health and Wellness, and epidemiologist for UVA Health’s Blue Ridge Poison Center. She earned her PharmD and MPH from Lebanese University and her PhD in epidemiology from Paris-East Créteil University, and completed a clinical toxicology fellowship at Emory University. Her research focuses on the U.S. opioid epidemic, substance use and toxicosurveillance using national poison center data.
